Perfect Pitch Enhancer
V1.0
By Steven Selick
The main goal of the perfect pitch enhancer is to develope
your sense of pitch over the full range of the average 5 octave
synthesizer keyboard range. The computer will choose a note within
your given range, and it will play it on a SEPARATE machine from
the keyboard that you are using for input. Then you must search
for the note that the computer played. Simple enough, however you
are not supposed to be able to hear the notes you play. Only what
the computer plays. The midi setup is generally simple. You plug
the MIDI OUT of your controller keyboard into the MIDI IN of the
computer. You then plug the MIDI OUT of the computer into the MIDI
IN of the sound module that you are going to use to play the
sounds. I have been able to do the entire range of the keyboard in
under 1 second for 300 tries. This is considered by most to be
outrageous. My girlfriend does one octave in about 1.8 seconds.
She is a violin player though. I would like to hear anything that
people have to say. Would you like to see graphs? What would be a
useful graph? Send mail to
